As the summer season winds up in Saskatchewan, it’s important to take care of the lush green grass you have been caring for over the last several months. By ensuring you head into winter season prepared, you will be able to brag about having the best lawn on the block in the spring.
As sod ages the soil can become compacted so there is little to no pore space. This makes it difficult for grass roots to absorb water and nutrients. When we aerate we remove small cores (plugs of soil) which are then deposited on the surface.
It’s best to leave these cores on the surface as they will work their way back into the soil within a month. The holes that remain help to break up compacted soil and allow water and air to penetrate to the root zone.
We recommend aerating your lawn once a year, especially if you have a lot of foot traffic from children and pets!
We use the power rake to rake deeply into the grass bed and dead material covering the soil without actually digging it up. This increases the effectiveness of fertilizers, watering, and pest controls, promoting a thicker and healthier lawn.
When power raking we rake the entire lawn, hand rake to remove all dead grass clippings, mow and lastly blow any debris off of the sidewalks.
We look forward to preparing your lawn for the winter season! Purchase this package today and we will schedule you in this fall!
